AFSA founding meeting
The founding meeting of AFSA was held in South Africa in December 2022. During this meeting a group of forensic science practitioners from across Africa gathered to discuss the need and purpose for such an Academy in our field.
There was unanimous consensus to start AFSA in order to serve the interests of forensic science practitioners across Africa. AFSA is to represent all the fields in the forensic sciences, as outlined Here
The Founding Members of AFSA (see the picture on the right) formulated a strategy to bring AFSA into existence and launch it in March 2023 in Kigali at the ASFM meeting. To this end an Interim Executive was elected at the founding meeting, with a mandate of building the architecture of AFSA and put structures in place to make it an efficient instrument to serve forensic science practitioners in Africa.
